ELDWIN CHUA, CEO

It was working part-time in seafood restaurants in his late teens that sparked 30-something Eldwin’s interest in the culinary world, particularly seafood. And this culminated in him taking the plunge to start his own restaurant at the tender age of 22. Despite his youth, Eldwin founded his restaurant on a strong foundation of offering delicious home-style dishes made with quality ingredients offered at good value. A decade on, this continues to be the linchpin of the Paradise Group business.

Many of Eldwin’s original dishes in Seafood Paradise have proven to be bestsellers up to this day, notably his Crab in Superior Stock with Vermicelli, his unique Sambal, Dried Shrimp and Egg Gravy Chilli Crab, his Honey-Pepper Pork Ribs, and Deep-fried Homemade Beancurd and Sea Cucumber in Dark Gravy. Even now with full-fledged kitchen teams headed by executive chefs experienced in their own right, Eldwin is still very much hands-on in bringing new dishes to the Paradise menu.

Taking pride in providing quality cuisine with good value, Eldwin takes seriously the comments that he receives and uses these to constantly improve his menu and services.

EDLAN CHUA, COO

Edlan joined Paradise Group in 2006 when Seafood Paradise at Defu Lane has grown appreciably and Taste Paradise was making its first foray into the Singapore restaurant scene. As the architect of the group’s operations, Edlan translates Eldwin’s vision into reality and has also taken on the marketing aspect for the Paradise brand.

Despite not coming from a culinary background, Edlan passionately took the challenge by learning as much as he could about the business, from the costing of ingredients to people management. It is in this spirit that Edlan approaches his role, and as a leader. He is dedicated to train and instil the company’s values of sharpness, passion, perseverance, innovation, inspiration and team spirit to his team.

With the right attitudes in place in the entire company, he believes that the Paradise has the potential to grow into an established brand in the region, upholding its philosophy of quality food, good service and true value to Paradise’s customers.
